VistaPrint scam/VPRewards scam warning
News, Snap and Shame August 1st, 2007VistaPrint, the online business card service, appears to be running a very dubious sideline in automatically subscribing people - against their wishes - to a discount service known as VPrewards.
It would seem that many people, including myself, have unwittingly been enrolled in a discount club called VPrewards and costing £9.95 per month. What appears to be happening is that when you order business cards or the like on Vistaprint.co.uk you are then charged £9.95 in subsequent months for a rewards scheme (discounts with name brands) that they say you opted into. This occurs after your initial order has been paid in full and you only notice it if you look closely at your subsequent credit card bill.
Like many aggreived customers I have absoloutely no recollection of seeing wording or clicking anything that represented an agreement to join the scheme. Like most people I am very vigilant on any e-commerce site I use. So either VistaPrint were very sneaky and got it past my eagle eyes, or they are simply making it up. Whatever the case they can supply no documentation to prove that I requested to be a subscriber.
The firm simply says it has my IP address to prove it: “You filled out an online questionnaire,” said Dinah Manner, customer service rep for VPRewards, the UK company which I was redirected to through my credit card company.
The company agreed to unsubscribe me but said it saw no reason to do anything to prevent it happening to others.
Instead VPrewards denies that this is a common complaint and to rub salt into the wound they say that refunds are only granted through the US office, unless you accept a ‘cheque in the post’, meaning you still have to pay the fee on your credit card.
Intriguingly www.vprewards.co.uk is not an active domain. It is owned by Adaptive Affinity Ltd, the Edgeware-based company calling itself VPRewards. The company communicates via an email address ‘membersavings@vpreward.co.uk’ but the email contains no company name or contact details. www.vprewards.com (which is active as the VPrewards web site) is owned by Nebraska-based US firm Adaptive Marketing.
But VistaPrint supplies no details about VPrewards on its own site and nothing beyond a home page is given on the VPrewards web site.
Some victims of this only notice the problem after months of being charged. It is made particularly hard to detect as no information relating to it is provided in writing or on the invoice for your original order. One victim writing on the web suggests the only way to clear the matter up for good is to cancel your credit card and sign up for a new one.
VPrewards.co.uk declined to be interviewed to discuss the matter further. I have emailed the Vistaprint PR team who also refuse to talk on the phone but instead have sent my complaint on to a customer service representative who did contact me by phone while i was out.
Meanwhile there are lots of similar complaints on internet forums, so it could be that hundreds if not thousands are affected. If you or anyone you know has been affected please phone the rant line (above) as I am passing this story on to BBC Watchdog and to the nationals.
What is most shocking is that there appear to be hundreds of customers who have experienced this rip-off. If you type in ‘vistaprint scam’ into Google you can see them for yourself. When I asked the UK operation to comment on this they said they were only aware of many happy customers on the VPRewards scheme.
The other fact about this case is that you are agreeing to buy from VistaPrint yet you end up also subscribing to something called VPrewards run by Adaptive Affinity Ltd., which may or may not be run by Affinity Marketing of Nebraska.
The fact is it takes many hours/days to sort this all out. It would seem totally reasonable to charge VistaPrint for the time out of your working day that is spent putting matters right. Perhaps some kind of class action would be appropriate in that respect. I am so concerned about this matter that I have opened another web site to detail the matter in depth.
What to do next? Please comment below to help others and then join the campaign group to ensure we bring this matter to the attention of Trading Standards, The Fraud Office, and the media….. please phone the number above and leave your name and a contact telephone number. Once there are more than half a dozen people that want to get involved I will be organising a meeting in central London to see what what can do. We must stop this scam - if only to save others from being caught in the trap.

I could not find your rant number
I have also been conned out of 2 payments of £9.95 and I did not subscribe. I have emailed them and phoned 3 times. Each time I get an automated email confirming the account is cancelled but when I phoned VPREWARDS themselves they said my account was still active and promised a refund in 10 days after I told them that this is fraud and I will be contacting the police. I am waiting to see if I get the refund and considering cancelling my card.
August 14th, 2007 at 7:44 am
Unfortunately I only noticed the scam after four payments of £9.95 have been taken from my account. I called Vistaprint customer services on 0800 028 8251, and I was promised a refund within 10 days. An email about the cancellation of my ‘membership’ to vprewards has also arrived.
I was so naive to have believed that they would refund my money! Instead they took another payment of £9.95…
I am going to my bank today to cancel my card.
We have to get these fraudsters! This is criminal activity! I am happy to be involved in any joint activity to stop these people.
August 14th, 2007 at 10:46 am
You need to ring VPRewards on 0845 6722002. I got my refund in the bank today. Vistaprint did not cancel the account or refund even though they sent 3 emails confirming cancellation. It was only when I rang the above number and spoke to VPRewards membership that I got a response. When I rang VPRewards Hilary told me the account was still active. I did have to rant and threaten to get it though. I told her they had committed fraud and I would be going to the police if I did not get the refund in full.
Go for it!!!

OK I can add a bit more to the above:
1) It is a “business rewards scheme” through which you apply for vouchers for discounts at high street stores.
We were apparently told about this through emails, which I suspect are either never sent or are filtered by our spam killers
(difference between fraud and incompitence ).
2) The VPrewards lines now appear to be permenantly busy
3) The whole thing is run by Adaptive Affinity, and has a UK operation “Adaptive Affinity UK”
Email: info@adaptiveaffinity.com
Tel: +44 (0)870 143 2343
Fax: +44 (0)870 143 2444
Who can also close the account and credit some of the payments. I have been promised this by “Ben”. I won’t hold my breath.
4) As my personal details (including credit card) were transferred from “Vista Print UK Ltd” to “Adaptive Affinity UK” I wonder if the data protection act has been breeched?
Much more worryingly it has opened a huge hole in the credit card “cardholder not present” transaction. Apparently (from MBNA on behalf of VISA) if you sign up for a “subscription” (as in the case of VPrewards) you open a permanent line of credit to the organisation holding the subscription, which neither the credit card company nor you as the account holder can break. Only the organisation holding the subscription can do so. Further that liability will not disappear (legally) even if you close the credit card account. So if a fraudulent company (lets call them “Vast Plonkers”) does a legitimate trade with you to get your credit card details, and then says you have “subscribed” to a “service “ they can then take your money, perfectly legally, until you die. You cannot stop it, and the credit card company will not stop it. Then the credit card companies have the gall to hold us responsible for “fraudulent” use of the card!
I am going to outline this to MBNA, again I wont hold my breath!

The data protection act states the following:
Unlawful obtaining etc. of personal data
55. - (1) A person must not knowingly or recklessly, without the consent of the data controller-
(a) obtain or disclose personal data or the information contained in personal data, or
(b) procure the disclosure to another person of the information contained in personal data.
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply to a person who shows-
(a) that the obtaining, disclosing or procuring-
(i) was necessary for the purpose of preventing or detecting crime, or
(ii) was required or authorised by or under any enactment, by any rule of law or by the order of a court,
(b) that he acted in the reasonable belief that he had in law the right to obtain or disclose the data or information or, as the case may be, to procure the disclosure of the information to the other person,
(c) that he acted in the reasonable belief that he would have had the consent of the data controller if the data controller had known of the obtaining, disclosing or procuring and the circumstances of it, or
(d) that in the particular circumstances the obtaining, disclosing or procuring was justified as being in the public interest.
(3) A person who contravenes subsection (1) is guilty of an offence.
I suggest we complain!
August 14th, 2007 at 1:31 pm
oops, forgot the rest!
(4) A person who sells personal data is guilty of an offence if he has obtained the data in contravention of subsection (1).
(5) A person who offers to sell personal data is guilty of an offence if-
(a) he has obtained the data in contravention of subsection (1), or
(b) he subsequently obtains the data in contravention of that subsection.
(6) For the purposes of subsection (5), an advertisement indicating that personal data are or may be for sale is an offer to sell the data.
(7) Section 1(2) does not apply for the purposes of this section; and for the purposes of subsections (4) to (6), “personal data” includes information extracted from personal data.
(8) References in this section to personal data do not include references to personal data which by virtue of section 28 are exempt from this section.

just got off phone to vistaprint spoke to supervisor mellisa told me they will cancel and refund in 7 to 10 days will let you know
August 18th, 2007 at 9:41 am
The only way I got this sorted out was by calling to my bank in person. The bank has refunded me the £9.95 and have cancelled my old credit card and issued me with a new one with a new number. I’ve lost two payments to VPR before this. As all the others have found, you get no action from VPR, you still get charged. If you are contacting any consumer advice programmes or publications, I’d be happy to add my voice.
August 21st, 2007 at 1:23 pm
Like others I’ve found out too late that I’m having £11.95 deducted for whatever claimed membership benefits. I yesterday called VP and asked for evidence of joining to be sent to me and to cancel membership immediately. Servicer said her computer was down and she’d call back. It did not happen so I called again today. To be told I’d been refunded 4 months charges and the account closed. Again I asked for evidence that is said to be coming my way. Let’s see. Certainly has all the hallmarks of dubious practice and smells like a scam.
August 22nd, 2007 at 3:13 pm
I have also been defrauded by vprewards and only noticed after 11 months payments of £9.95. I spent a long time trying to contact them to claim a refund and eventually managed to cancel the subscription or so I thought.
I requested cancellation in June 2007 and received a reply confirming cancellation on the 20th August. Meanwhile the subs had risen to £11.95 and were taken for July and August.
I had cancelled my credit card in June to stop them taking the payment but somehow they are still taking the money from my account.
I feel very frustrated by this and my wife is absolutely livid.
August 24th, 2007 at 12:00 pm
hi all
i have fallen foul off this scam.
i am currently working with barclays frued team on this matter, and hopefully we can stop these criminals.
if you are with barclays you must contact them to strenghten this.
August 24th, 2007 at 4:40 pm
We have spoken to trading standards and as none of the vispa prints T&Cs are linked to the UK (they are based in Bermuda) theres not a lot they can do about the scam, however the lady I spoke said if she heard any more cases she would build a case, so I will forward this website to her as I think theres quite a few here!!
August 29th, 2007 at 8:40 am
I managed to phone vprewards and they agreed to refund 6 months subscriptions. I checked my bank today and vprewards have refunded all payments in full.
Obviously things are moving forward now
Chris
August 30th, 2007 at 5:01 pm
vprewards have now refunded two payments of £9.95 .
how they were able to do this with my new credit card i dont know but anyway so far no more payments have gone out. i will be very careful who i give my details to in future and will settle for my printing to be done with a local company. pity vista print went this way as they were good quality printers.
August 30th, 2007 at 9:36 pm
I only realized today that iItoo had fallen victim to this scam. I cant get through to the american number but I phoned 08000288251 and spoke to a very rude woman who has cancelled my subscription (which i never took in the first place) but said i wont get refunded as it was my fault for not reading my e mails from vistaprint saying I had to click a link to opt out within 16 days. i get e mails daily from vista print so like alot of other people just delete them
September 2nd, 2007 at 8:13 pm
I too have been conned. I can’t get through on any of the phone numbers but will continue to try tomorrow. I will also speak to my bank (Abbey) and ask their advice. If anything new develops I will let you know!!!!
September 3rd, 2007 at 7:36 pm
In my case, vprewards.com and clubprem.com took 2 lots and 3 lots of £9.95 in the last 2 months.
When I called 3 weeks ago to 0845 6722002 inquring about the ‘membership’ I never knew I had, and requested cancellation and refund, the agent ‘Hilary’ and her manager ‘Rachel’ cancelled, and said ‘2 X £9.95′ would be refunded out of then 4 debits.
Despite this phone conversation taking place, NOTHING had been refunded to date. Incidently, I found ANOTHER debit of !!!
So I called for the 2nd time today demanding now ALL of the 5 lots of £9.95, only to be told and their system had no record of they promised 3 weeks ago!!! I have no recording system on my phone as an evidence, but they clearly agreed to the refund of at least then. Now not only that seems to have gone, but also they say they can only refund 1 debited yesterday after membership cancel. This is exctremely unprofessional and dishonest. I requested ‘manager’ and I was told that she would call me if I left ph. number.
No surprise- NOONE called me back.
The whole thing has been such a stress, and who knows they may say something else again on the phone next time!! I did NOT join this thing, and all I want is my money back!
Very seriously worried-
September 6th, 2007 at 4:31 pm
I have just found the same thing in my bank account. I cannot believe that this is legal. It is simply unbelieveable to me. I have just spoken to someone called Hillary on the telephone at VP Rewards and she has told me that my membership has now been cancelled. From what everyone has said on this site I am not overly optimistic about this at all.
What has everyone else found to happen when they are told that their accounts have been cancelled??

September 7th, 2007 at 3:44 pm
Another one caught and not signed up for anything! I have spoken to Lloyds TSB today and as it was off my debit card they say they cannot refund this payment. However as it has been registered as a fraud any future payments will be refunded - hopefully they won’t be taken. The Bank know about this scam and gave me a phone number to call them. I have tried to call VP and one phone number requires my bank details to enter the system - no way I am giving them out, the other one just says they are busy and hangs up. I have now emailed them to cancel and demand a refund. Have already received a reply with a complaint reference so fingers crossed.
I check my account online so spotted it straight away. Can’t believe they can get away with this. I also liked used Vistaprint but very wary now.
September 9th, 2007 at 9:38 pm
I have just spotted money being debited by VPrewards from my account and having no recollection of making these payments, I typed it in to Google and am appalled at what I’ve been reading. I bank with Barclays, so am really hoping they can help me when I call them tomorrow. I also did not, to my knowledge, agree to these payments being taken or sign up for any membership.
September 17th, 2007 at 7:22 pm
Hi Guys,
Sorry to say I’m now in the same boat
appernetly I “joined” the club when I ordered some business cards ???
just seen they have taken 9.95 out of my account since Jan 2007 (now mid september)
I phoned Vista Print they gave me the telephone number
0845 026 1100
This is an automated system that you need to enter your details into and then it says my account is now cancelled
The other number I have, and I hope to speak to a real person tomorrow when thet open 0845 6722 002
September 18th, 2007 at 1:12 pm
Me too! Called vprewards.com on 08456 722002 who said they would cancel, and refund 5 months: but will they, who knows? Later checked statements and realised they had been billing me £9.95 since Jan 2007. Called Barclaycard who said they cannot stop payments, only vprewards can. Shocking! Barclaycard have a dispute process, but I don’t want the hassle.
Keep me informed, friends!
September 19th, 2007 at 6:31 pm
Hi ive just discoverd my account also being deducted. The bank says they cant stop the payment because of the set up, but need a cancellation confirmation which ive agred to do and go, a person on the Vista suggested its not a scam and i completed a survey to get a ?10 reduction and i should have been receiving vouchers to use in London. He said he has cancelled the account - which i did get a email - and i would get all my payments back whch im not convinced about.
But ive just left a message o BCcs watch Dogs telephone answer machine - could i suggest that all people with teh same problem do the same and maybe the BBC take this up, yea cheap business cards — never again.
September 19th, 2007 at 6:35 pm
same problems - called and left a message for -BBC watchdog, please do the same
September 21st, 2007 at 2:24 pm
Yippee I have now received a refund from VP rewards. Only got this by sending them an email to enquiries@vprewards.com - telephone calls got me no where all automated and no response. BUT I will keep checking my account as I don’t believe they won’t try and take next month’s money.
September 21st, 2007 at 9:34 pm
This also happened to me over August and September. Not only did Vprewards.com take money from my account but a site called clubprem.com as well. If I hadn’t noticed, I would have had almost £20.00 per month taken out by these sites.
The worrying thing was that I contacted my bank immediately who said to stop it I would need to change my debit card, which I did, yet VPRewards somehow got around this and still took money from my account.
Clubprem did refund me though — which I was pleased with. I contacted my bank again this week who were flabbergasted that the money was still being taken by VPRewards. They contacted the bank’s head office who said it should now stop.
Personally, I believe that may Vistaprint is a front. What I mean is that I think it is a printing firm but they are making most of their money from scams like this. They are also based in Bermuda. I don’t know if they have different laws there.
The thing that really stinks is that I have heard of young people under the age of 16 who have been ripped off by them as well.
I will never use Vista Print again. Up until last month I thought they were a reputable firm.
September 25th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
why not start a chain email - to warn people about this company!!!!! As i said before please call BBC watch Dog and see if they will take up the case
September 27th, 2007 at 11:19 am
I called 001 888 243 6185 in the US and got all 9 months money back in 3 days. However, I had earlier called Vistaprint in the UK on 08456 722002 and been told to write to the complaints department, which I knew would be a painful process.
I kept checking my credit card statement online every day. I could see if money was about to be taken off (pending transaction), and was ready to cancel my card if Vprewards was about to take any more money. Fortunately that never happened to me.
September 27th, 2007 at 11:31 am
[…] Back in the beginning of August, I wrote about the VistaPrint Scam/VPRewards Scam. […]
October 1st, 2007 at 5:30 pm
yes ive received all my money back as well - im not sure what they actually do as an organisation it would suggest they are a scam. im now blocking and deleting all the rubbish i get from vista!!!!!
October 3rd, 2007 at 10:00 am
I found out today that they have taken £9.95 out of my account for the past ten months. When I questioned them, I was told I had 30 days to cancel a membership that I took out in September of last year, I wasn’t aware that I had signed up for a membership. Surely this is illegal. I am going to send this website to all my friends to make them aware. I first recommended vistaprint to them, not any more
October 8th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
Vistaprint took two payments a month from my account for months. I thought it was something my husband was buying but in the end I rang up to discover the scam. I did get reimbursed for one lot. They told me they had notified me by email. As if one reads Vistaprints emails. What I want to know is where else can one get cards printed because I dearly don’t want to give them any more business.
October 8th, 2007 at 12:53 pm
I did get a result guys - details are here
http://www.thegeneva.com/wordpress/success-results-from-vistaprint-scamvprewards-scam-warning/
And in regards to an alternative, I used photobox.co.uk for some things recently and they are wonderful!
I am also in the process of getting some cards done with a new company, and will let you know how good they are when they arrive.
October 10th, 2007 at 2:20 pm
use chargeback on your credit card to get the fund back , very easy to do
October 11th, 2007 at 1:18 pm
Good Afternoon
I have contacted VistaPrint four times and called and spoken to them on a number of times but no luck. I have just sent my fourth email to themregarding monies being taken from my account.
I used Vistaprint in the past to have some letterhead, business cards and promotional material produced and delivered however I have been charged £9.95 for a promotion with Vistaprint and for another company. This has been taken from my bank account for the last six months. I have contacted my bank who cancelled my card and re-issued a new one. I have emailed them three times and spoke on numberous occassions to one of their advisors, however they still continue to take the money.
I will be contacting the Police if I do not receive a complete refund within the next seven days.
They have taken over one hundred pounds and as a single parent i cannot afford this money.
I want them to refunded the funds and cancelling the membership, to which I had no idea I had signed up to.
I really thought that VistaPrint was a professional company not a company that is ripping people of all over the world.
October 16th, 2007 at 2:55 pm
I bought something from VistaPrint and then found that I had being charged two lots of £9.95 on my credit card for VPRewards and Clubprem, whatever they are. I check my statement regularly so it has only happened once so far.
I suggest that the software is signing people up regardless of whether they delete the pop up box or press cancel. As it seems to have been going on for about a year, then it must be deliberate, or something would have been fixed by now.
I have put a block on my credit card, and have cut it up.
However, my bank (Egg) say that they cannot stop payments for subscriptions, as these are different from one off payments!! However, they are going to try and recover the money for me, but say they may have to keep doing this over a period of time until these people stop taking it, which presumably they will????
As a last resort I will have to report it to the police and use the report number to make a claim on my card insurance. If this goes on and on, it will be quite a hefty administration burden for me, Egg and the insurers. I don’t suppose the police will be able to do anything.
It is about time we had money cards that we could buy for say £50 or £100 (or whatever) which were not tied to us in any way, but which we could use to buy things. Once the card runs out that’s it, the end of that card and there would be no associations to tie it to us. It would be just like cash. I can’t see any other way to buy things over the internet safely if firms like VistaPrint are going to pass on our bank details to third parties.
The banks could make up the loss of other business by charging a small fee for the purchase of these cards.
Otherwise I fear that internet commerce will be seriously compromised, as this kind of fraud seems to be on the increase.
October 22nd, 2007 at 12:00 pm
On inspection of my bank account I have discovered that Vista Print has been fraudulently taking monies in the names of VPrewards.com and Clubprem.com since September 2006. These payments has been taken monthly. We have contacted the police and we are going to contact Trading Standards. This fraudulent activity must be stopped.
October 22nd, 2007 at 12:25 pm
Further to our first report we are in the process of contacting the FBI. On contact with them we have been told that we must have our report put through from our local police. This we are going to do.
As VistaPrint is an American based company we recommend that anyone else with this type of fraud complaint put into the hands of the FBI.
October 26th, 2007 at 4:29 pm
I have actually had an admission today from Vistaprint’s HQ in montego bay in the west Indies that if you click ANYWHERE on the VP Rewards banner after dealing with Vistaprint you are AUTOMATICALLY signed onto the scheme.
The lady I spoke to was called Latoya Saunders (At least that was the name she gave me)
I managed to get my vp rewrds user id from her - something that I had never received by email despite vprewards assurances to the contrary.
I have now gone through the long winded on line method of cancelling the agreement that I was assured didn’t exist nor that vprewrads dumba*s personel could even find.
I have saved copies of every web page I trekked through as proof of cancellation
Now I shall see if the promised cancellation confirmation e-mail ever turns up and that the account is actually cancelled.
As for a refund - well I won’t hold my breath!
October 30th, 2007 at 2:36 pm
This address may well be useful to UK residents trying to get a response from VP Rewards if postal mail to their PO Box 587 in Edgware gets you no where (as it has done with me)
I have just found that this PO box is registered to;
VISTAPRINT REWARDS
GROUND FLOOR, CAVENDISH HOUSE
369-391 BURNT OAK BROADWAY
EDGWARE
HA8 5AW
According to Consumer Direct you should write to this address and demand a refund and cancellation and send the letter by recorded delivery.
October 31st, 2007 at 11:17 am
I too have been conned on two occasions by Vistaprint. They had taken 3 payments of £9.95 before I realised.
After trying to contact them with no success, I contacted my bank who gave me a number to ring with regard to Credit Fraud. This number is permanently engaged. I gave up after wasting so much time and eventually decided to change my card details.
October 31st, 2007 at 11:34 pm
Hi - just to let you know that I have also been had. 6 months worth of payments of £9.95 each. Just so annoyed. Cancelled by phone, cancelled on Web, cancelled by speaking to a VP agent. Membership is still up and running!! Just phoned the bank today and had my card cancelled. Happy days! Not!!! Reported to bank as fraud and see how that will pan out. Will keep you posted
November 2nd, 2007 at 4:28 am
I suffered several of these charges and finally got it stopped a few months ago by getting my card company to charge them back. Now I’m thinking of sending printouts of statements to VP/Affinity with printouts of various sites like this detailing the scam and a letter telling them I know their game and I want my money back or I’m suing!
November 3rd, 2007 at 3:04 pm
My bank, Egg has issued a new card and account number, and restored the £19.90 to the new account.
Full marks!!
I am just waiting until after the 8th Nov. (the previous amounts were taken on the 4th and 8th October).
I assume they can’t take the money now as it is a new account, but I am waiting anyway. I was warned that this money might have to come and go from my account a few times until they give up.
The £19.90 is the only amount on the account, as it was all paid up, so I will leave it alone for now to see what happens.
Meanwhile I use a different back account!
November 4th, 2007 at 11:32 pm
I have been buying from Vistaprint for about 5 years and have had no problems until now. I saw a blog about scams, checked my business bank account and found that I’ve made 10 payments, all unauthorised as far as I am concerned.
I am going to contact my bank, Lloyds TSB, but I’m not hopeful. I have already sent an email to Vistaprint but I am not hopeful.
They have lost any future business from me.
November 5th, 2007 at 6:50 pm
I have seen this option when you complete a transaction, at the bottom it says ‘Congratulations! Click here to claim your Special Reward for your purchase today!’ You click continue and it takes you onto a page which offers £10 cash back on your next visit. You fill in a quick survey in order to get it, put in your email address and click Yes. It does mention the fee and the transferring of details and card details etc. It is very dodgy though, it looks as though it is a free good will customer offer in return for a survey to be filled in where both benefit. I didn’t put in my details and click yes, I just hope I don’t get anything still as a result of completing this order. This blog warned me to try and keep my wits while dealing with Vistaprint…..I was in two minds to buy from them but decided it was the better option at the time. I know full well that I didn’t submit my details so if anything is taken off my card I will be very angry! I will keep an eye out now, I never even look at my statement, so if others are like me they must be making their fortune very quickly and easily from the unsuspecting.

YEP,I WAS DONE AS WELL-BUT AFTER CONTACTING
VPREWARDS AND VISTA PRINT-BOTH BY PHONE AND EMAIL
THEY CANCELLED MY MEMBERSHIP AND GAVE ME
A FULL REFUND INTO THE BANK WITHIN 2 DAYS !
THE SIMPLE MENTION OF FRAUD/DATA PROTECTION
ACT,ETC AND THAT I WAS GOING TO CHARGE THEM FOR MY TIME SPENT ON RETRIEVING THE SUMS I THINK
MADE THEM ACT !
THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY OUT OF THIS—
DON,T DEAL WITH VISTA PRINT.

I’ve been stung for about £90. The free offer was sent to me by Homebase and I’ve just recieved an EM offer following an internet purchase from Pixmania. I have written to both pointing them to the various forums. What chance have we got if legitimate companies are promoting this.
November 21st, 2007 at 6:24 pm
I have just recently found out about this problem,
After no response to my email I searched Google and found 0800 028 8251 on the vistaprints site.
I phoned this number and told them I was annoyed at finding out about this scheme and demanded that this so called membership be cancelled immediately.
The guy apologised and put me through to another person who said they were cancelling it at that time and that I would get my money refunded.
I got an email of my cancellation a few days later and have just phoned my bank who tells me that my payments have now been refunded.
I hope this helps but I will join the ranks in a massive complaint if necessary

Another victim here of the scam… have gone to Stephen Rhodes on Three Counties Radio in hope they may resolve something. Will let you know.
November 22nd, 2007 at 1:49 pm
Went live this morning on radio explaining our situation. Stephan Rhodes consumer programme will be looking into it all. Listen in on 95.5 fm, and maybe also put your grips forward. Good Luck. Or you could visit the customer services manager Rachel Manner at :- Adaptive Affinity, Cavendish House, 369-391, Burnt Oak Broadway, Edgware HA8 5X2 tel: 0870 143 2343. Shes not all helpful, very inconsistant and basically feeds you lies. She has promised me like others a full refund… we will wait and see!!!
November 23rd, 2007 at 12:14 pm
This happened to me as well in Nov 2007. I orderd 250 Free cards and now my credit card is charged for £9.95 twice for such programmes without my permission.
November 28th, 2007 at 4:16 pm
Contacted 0800 0288251 and was told that my money would be refunded 2 - 3 days, was told 1 - 2 billing months, I complained and mentioned fraud!! I am crossing my fingers, they have been taking money for 7 months.
November 28th, 2007 at 8:50 pm
I have had 4 payments taken from my my Barclaycard Business card. I have spoken to Barclaycard they say they can get my payments back and cancel any further requests 4 payments.I have at no point agreed to VPRewards, lets see what happens.
December 3rd, 2007 at 8:04 pm
I also ordered via Barclaycard who refunded all the payments back to me, just filled in a couple of forms. I’ll never order anything again from Vista Print, what a rip off!
December 4th, 2007 at 6:33 pm
i too had the same problem - ive had a full refund. But two things ive noticed is, that all future emails i received from vista re cards and stuff i responded to by calling them lying cheating company… the emails have now stopped.
and the second is, and im the worst, is that its amazing how many people dont check there credit card statements - i was about 5-6 months in on about £ 20 a month re theree payments.
I now check all my statements - credit and daily account to confirm i know the whats going out and in…
Maybe this is a lesson to us all!!!
December 5th, 2007 at 12:19 am
I noticed last week that I’d suspiciously had £9.95 taken from my account from a “ClubPrem.com” which I had never been on or had anything to do with. I told my bank and cancelled the card. A bit of Googling today told me it’s a scam related to VistaPrint, which I’d used a month ago for free business cards. I phoned the customer support line on Vistaprint.com and the guy said they’d cancel my subscription and reimburse the money taken. If nothing happens soon I’ll be ringing them back again.
December 9th, 2007 at 8:29 pm
I have also just been “caught” and like many others am unable to track anyone down to issue a refund. Hence I have immediately cancelled my membership and will have nothing further to do with vistaprint. SO glad to have found all this out, thought I was the only one.
December 11th, 2007 at 10:53 am
I informed my business bank account of the scam and they suggested I cancel my bank card which I have now done. They are aware of the problem and suggested that VP are now refunding monies that have been taken in error (I call it THEFT!) I emailed Vistaprint and informed them of the bank’s comments and I am happy to say that they have refunded every penny directly into my account. (Mostly £9.95 a month, but recently they upped it to £11.95!!!)
However…it has cost me dearly in time, effort and worry.
I would like a public warning to be made and a public apology.
What were the awards? Nobody has ever had any - have they?
QUESTION: Is it safe to continue using VistaPrint?
December 14th, 2007 at 2:56 pm
Thank goodness I checked out Vista print through google and found this blog. Was just about to buy business cards through them!!!! Won’t now, looks like once they’ve got your bank details… you’re stuffed. Thank you .

im the ultimate in web safty and was really hurt to be stung with this scam and could not believe it. Anyway once noticing the entries on my bank statement after ordering a rubber stamp which by the way was poor quality and i could have bought half the price on ebay. I conatcted my bank who told me they get loads of phone calls every week on the same scam and they are powerless to stop it as by ordering i have authorised them to use my card. Things got worse when i asked them to cancel my card and i was told as this scam was subscription based they could still take money form my account which i could not believe. I searched the net and could not believe how much i found from what was such a huge reputable company like Vistaprint. Did they really think it was worse getting all this bad press who could tell. At long last i found a UK based number and i told them that it was a business order and i was using a business debit card and i only had the authority to order the stationary and was not in a legal position to subscribe to any memberships using these card details. I stayed calm but felt i was given a parrot read script that the membership would be cancelled and money refunded in 3-4 weeks. I asked for this in writing as advised by my bank. As they said that was the only possible chance i had of a fraud compliant if they took more money. I also found a fax number and faxed a letter to the same effect but also added that my job was on the line over this as it looke like i had used the company card. Of course i was not as i am a one man band and would not be sacking myself just still kicking myself for getting into this in the first place. Anyway a couple of sleepness nights followed. I know it was just £19.80 but i was so annoyed. 2 days later to my disbelive a letter turned up promising a refund and that my subscriptions were cancelled. It also contained a proper uk address which cheered me up as if no refund came now at least i could do legal proceedings which you cant do on foreign or po box address. Then 4 days later to my amazement my refund arrived. Now i did something which was a bit naughty but after what i went through i did not have second thoughts and that was i rang Vistaprint and told them i had not had any goods and i was prusing my money back. I was offered a credit or replacement. As i never ever had plans of ordering from them again i accepted a duplicate order. Prehaps this makes me a thief and no better then them. But i say if they can do what they are doing to people they can afford it and its just desearts.

December 29th, 2007 at 3:14 am
You could join this lawsuit:
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/09/webloyalty.html
The company being sued is one of vistaprint’s partners.
December 29th, 2007 at 12:52 pm
I recently come across this sight just after ordering stuff from Vistaprint. Luckily I was able to cancell the subscribtion before any payments were taken. I spoke to my credit card company about it, but they cannot just stop payment as there is an ‘agreement’ in place. They advise that the subsribtion must be cancelled AND writen confirmation received before they can take any future action.
December 30th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
was just about to order more business cards and saw this scam page! yes ive been had too, will be phoning them today.bastards.
December 31st, 2007 at 11:45 am
I bought my husband’s business cards from Vistaprint in Sept ‘07 & thought nothing more of it,after paying for the P&P & receiving his cards within the week (using my husband’s debit card).
However,on 19th Dec’07 my husband happened to look at his mini bank statement & noticed a debit of £9.95 taken by ‘vprewards.com’
I googled it when I got to work & found that it was to do with Vistaprint!
I immediately phoned my husband to inform him.
I also contacted Vistaprint via email - which was never acknowledged.
Later on, I clicked on a link in one of the many emails they’ve since sent me (for offers, that is!) where you can supposedly unsubscribe.
Okay,I received 3 or 4 emails eventually, which claimed that my ’subscription’(?) had been cancelled with them.
Not wanting to take any chances I did eventually get to talk to an actual person by phoning:0845 672 2002 & was assured that my husband’s money would be refunded.
Since then, they have taken another £9.95
That’s two in a week!
Today my husband contacted his bank & discovered that not only had they taken two lots of £9.95 in December but also £9.95 in November.
The bank is carrying out an investigation.
I, myself purchased some business cards a week after buying some for my husband.
I am still waiting to see if any money disappears from my credit card account!
Oh,by the way - I do not remember signing up for any cash back offers or anything of the kind…I simply bought some business cards!
They’ve turned out to be expensive business cards.
I hope this helps people in some way - hopefully before deciding to use Vistaprint for ‘FREE’ business cards?
Check your bank/credit card accounts & keep checking them.
December 31st, 2007 at 11:24 pm
today i saw £9.95 taken from my bank account, i didnt know what it was, well now i know and i cant believe how many people this is happening too. i may have given them loads more, i’m not sure i want to look into it?? what a scam, i thought they were an honest business.
They sent me an email awhile ago about a reward membership i asked for a reply explaining what they were on about, i never got one yet they have taken my money.
i have just emailled Vrewards twice, apparently when you get involved in this legally they can take money for life so even changing to a different bank card they can still get you.
it makes me sick, i will go to barclays bank see what they suggest.
the most annoying part is my self employed business has their stationary and i am really pleased with it. why are people so selfish, they should get a life. i will not let this rest
January 3rd, 2008 at 1:14 am
I am self employed and have been ordering stationary from VistaPrint for a couple of years or more. I recently received an e mail offering me £10 discount of my next order and inviting me to click the box to obtain my discount. I did click but then realised it wasn’t a simple matter of obtaining a £10 discount and seemed to direct me to another site. I smelled a rat and exited out of the site. When I received my next credit card bill I noticed a debit of £9.95 to ClubPrem. I immediately rang the Halifax who said I would have to contact the company concerned but that they would log it a a disputed item. I rang ClubPrem on 0845 026 1100 but got through to an anwering service only. I then found an e mail in my “junk” from ClubPrem with a “membership” number. I followed the cancellation procedure on their website and found another telephone number 08456 722002 and spoke to someone called Andy on 02/01/08. I asked how they had got my credit card details when I had not signed up for any membership and had not provided my credit card details to them. He said the fact that I had clicked on the link gave them permission to obtain my credit card details from VistaPrint! I asked him for a refund and he said the £9.95 would be credited back in 7-10 days. I then e mailed VistaPrint to complain about them providing my personal details to another company when they advertise themselves as a secure site. They sent an automated reply saying their customer services department only take ‘phone calls (0800-028-8251) and they can’t reply to e mails! I am furious with myself for falling for this and even more cross that the Halifax couldn’t do a charge back. Whether I receive the refund from ClubPrem remains to be seen.
January 3rd, 2008 at 1:27 pm
Since posting my comments above I have contacted Halifax Credit Card who say they cannot charge back the sum of £9.95 credited to ClubPrem even though they agreed that it was a fruadulent debit. They say it is up to me to obtain a refund from ClubPrem direct. I thought credit cards afforded some protection against fraud - not so with the Halifax!
January 4th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
I have only recently started using vistaprint after being lured in by their free business card offer ,my initial experience i found their site easy to navigate ,delivery charges seemed a bit steep but i liked the idea of the convenience and getting business stationary delivered direct to my door , i placed my order and settled for the standard delivery to keep costs at a minimum , a friend who ordered some business cards two days before me opted for the priority delivery and shelled out an extra five pounds for the privilege , my order arrived two days before hers , my next order arrived at the speed of lightening i was very impressed until i opened the box and noticed printing errors like no spacing between words and telephone numbers , i found it impossible to contact customer services through the day ,line was either engaged or i just got cut off , i bit the bullet and re ordered keen to promote my new business , re order didn’t arrive in the time scheduled , the tracking facility was useless so i rang customer services and managed to get through in the middle of the night ,drinking coffee to keep myself awake , i spoke to a very persecuted defensive sounding american guy who advised me my order was lost in transit ,just like that ,no silence as he checked , he placed a re order ,when i checked my order status it said shipped ,priority delivery , it still hasn,t arrived ten days later so i traced the courier service who then told me to ring another number which i rang only to be told i had to ring yet another number as they were receiving one call after the other about vistaprint deliveries and there was much confusion i think he was foaming at the mouth as his speech was very garbled and incoherent , i typed in vistaprint complaints and have since discovered this link and others and i am absolutely shell shocked by what i have read , there are a couple of dubious amounts on my bank statement one for £9.99 and another in dollars for $14.95 i dont remember authorising these and i am investigating these amounts ,Barclaycard have given me a number to ring to prevent unauthorised amounts being taken out of my account 01600254050 if its of help to any other barclaycard customers , my new years resolution dont use vistaprint ….
January 7th, 2008 at 11:03 am
Yes my New Year’s resoultion is also to unsubscribe to VistaPrint. After speaking to an actual person at Premier Club on 0845 672 2002 I have now received a refund of £9.95 and an e mail confirming that my “membership” has been cancelled. Hopefully this will be the end of the matter for me but there is a point of principle here. I have written some angry letters to Premier Club and VistaPrint. I will never order stationary from them again and I will continue to regularly check my credit card account on-line. I have also made contact wth the media about this scam.
January 7th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
To everyone who has left a comment on this site - you may be interested to know that this story is being reported on Radio 4 on the You and Yours programme on Wednesday 9th January 2008.
I have Just discovered that my refund came from the credit card company and not from Premier Club directly.
January 9th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
To everyone who has been charge, I do understand your anger, It is not at all a lovely thing to lose £9.95 or US14.95 in some cases. However if you have or is still being charged, what you can do is to just call VistaPrint directly and request to be cancelled from the vistaprint rewards program, they will be more than happy to have the program cancelled for you and issue a full refund of all the charges made on your credit cards, and I know this because I have done it before. Its a very simple process. Still doesnt make it right but its the simplest way to get the issue resolved and sometimes we get caught too easy by opting to receive free gifts and money-backs. these things dont work. be careful
January 11th, 2008 at 12:01 am
i have just noticed 2 payment of £9-95 were taken out of my account without my permission.I cannot afford this and have tried to contact vprewards without success.very worried.
January 11th, 2008 at 12:41 am
hi have just managed to get through to vistprint on 0800 028 8251 spoketo a damian who has said my account will be canceled and money refunded.
January 11th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
My son used my card to purchase business cards for his new business, he told me the cost was approx £28. I admit I was guilty of not checking my statements properly but then I noticed an increase from £9.95 to £11.95, After investigating I found out that VPRewards had taken in total £110 from my account. My son said he never saw anything about VP Rewards when he signed up and I have since looked and cannot see anything about it on their site. I have phoned, written and have been assured I will be refunded but nothing as yet that is probably about a year ago now. Feel like there is nothing I can do. However it has taught me to check my statements very carefully now. Be warned Interflora’s website does almost the same thing!
January 14th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Well - here goes - 7 lots of money taken (£9.95) on the same date of every month. I only receive irregular bank statements and only picked this up at the weekend. I spoke to the company today and was assured that my ‘membership’ is cancelled and the money will be refunded. We”ll see - extremely irriating for someone who guards thier privacy to the extreme!!
January 16th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
I have placed several orders with Vistaprint and had no reason to complain about the quality of goods supplied, their prices or service until my latest order in November 2007. When I received my credit card bill in December I noticed that three amounts of £9.95 had been taken from my account. I immediately rang my bank who expressed concern that these amounts had been taken without explanation as to what they were for except for the name of vista print, Premier club and adapative affinity. The bank put these amounts immediately into dispute, cancelled my credit card and issued a new one. In the meantime I e-mailed all three of these companies. The only reply I received was telling me I had filled in a request form to eceive these notifications of offers and signed up to the £9.95 monthly subscription. No written evidence has been produced. There is no way I would have agreed to this. I have kept all the e-mails and accounts. The three amount have now been refunded and listed ” In dispute, Payment not required” on my bank credit card account.
I completely agreee that this or these companies should be investigated and stopped. I would be pleased to help in doing this but have to say that travel to London from Whitby would be inpractical.

January 17th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
E-mailed VistaPrint to complain of the distorted images on the Free Calendar I paid extra for higher quality. Their e-mail reply was to ask me to phone 0800-028-8251. When I did so, got automated reply saying their office was only open from 12pm until 4am! I haven’t been cross enough yet to stay up that late, and haven’t found an alternative number to phone.
Hopefully I am not a victim of the scam in most comments above - but I will check tonight.
January 18th, 2008 at 5:10 am
I have been a vistaprint.com customer for years and have Never been accidentally signed up for VPRewards.
I have purchased a slew of products and have never had a charge appear on my account for VPRewards.
I think the problem is most don’t want to take the time to read and just aimlessly click around and end up signing up for the program. Take the time to read and you will be all the better for it.
January 23rd, 2008 at 8:51 pm
i joined the 995 club today s***, debit card fraud said email them to cancel and informed me of the little box i didn`t tick!!!!!! they wont pursue this one but can the next? crikey!!!!! do i cancel cards as i have 2??
January 30th, 2008 at 11:22 am
This story is again being picked up by the media and will be on Radio 4 on 30/01/08 at 12.00.
January 30th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
Vistaprint and Interflora were named and shamed for these scams on the You and Yours programme on BBC radio 4 on 30/01/08. Let’s hope scams like these now stop.
January 31st, 2008 at 1:13 pm
I had been away for 6 weeks until this morning checking through my credit card staement and found 4 payment of £9.95 each taken from my account ( two for VPREWARDS COM and two for CLUBPREM.COM). The only number I found to talk to someone was 0845 672 2002 and they claim to refund all payment to my account with immediate effect. This scam is huge and must be making thousands in interest alone.
January 31st, 2008 at 8:35 pm
Further to my earlier message (no. 82) no missing monies have been refunded - despite promises from Itena on 14/01, Stephanie on 16/01 and Camille on 29/01.
No emails have ever been received from VistaPrint apart from 3 confirmations of cancellation of the supposed account - what a disgrace - be warned! Omar has promised today that my money will be refunded by Tuesday next week - I shan’t hold my breath.
February 1st, 2008 at 2:16 pm
just noticed money coming out of my account as well, i will ring the number you have mentioned. and i will email them as well. they have got some cheeck.
February 7th, 2008 at 11:52 am
Thank you for your warnings. I have just picked up an advert for Vistaprint via Amazon promoting free calendars. Having read all the trials and tribulations that you all have experienced, i will not be taking up their offer. however, it is surprising to me that a wellknown and respected company such as Amazon have joined forces with this kind of outfit.
Good luck with all your requests for refunds, and it does seem to me that the moral is that we should be checking our bank statements regularly!
February 7th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
yep, i just got scammed too. logged it as fraud with the halifax after reading this forum & others like it about the same scam. cancelled bank card. now worreid as someone said they can still take your money as it’s a “subscription” - is this really true? do i have to chnage my actual bank account as well???
halifax have also asked for a police report to be logged. i hope someone nails these b******* - why is this not illegal???
February 8th, 2008 at 12:03 am
Hi All - you may be interested to know that further to blogs 82 and 90 my money has finally been refunded! Ta, da! I agree about the Amazon comment - that’s how I got caught up - very surprised at Amazon as the banking industry rates then very highly and i’ve always found them exceptional! Oh well - I wonder what’s in it for them - as we all now know there is no such thing as a free lunch! Caron
February 8th, 2008 at 11:10 am
I’ve also fallen foul of this scam, I checked my bank account today and found the money taken. I ordered some calendars in January, I know I definitely did not knowingly sign up for a monthly fee of £9.95 PER MONTH, who in their right mind would do that?
I’ve called the number 0845 672 2002 to be told that their systems are down and that they will ring me back!
I’ve gone onto the vistaprint site and have cancelled my membership. It’s certainly made me think twice about buying off the internet!
I’ve contacted my bank (Abbey) and they have advised me to cancel my card so they (Vistaprint) can no longer take any money out of my account.
February 18th, 2008 at 11:04 pm
If you want to cancel this membership please call 1800- 243 - 6185 the the rewards program dept # you will hear an automated system press 00000’s to be transferred to an customer care agent Speak with them and they will cancel this.
February 19th, 2008 at 10:05 am
Hi,
I am in Australia and have used Vistaprints free offers and such for over a year!… What does the debit show up as on your account????
Curious now to see whether I have had money debited without me realising it.
I don’t think I have joined into any membership though.
Kind Regards,
Kristy
February 19th, 2008 at 10:07 am
Is Vistaprint Rewards different to purchasing through just Vistaprint?
February 19th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Hi
In the same boat as the rest of you luckily I noticed it on the first credit card statement. So cancelled my card who seemed to know all about it but said they were powerless, well we all know thats unprintable rubbish. My suggestion is that everyone reports vistaprint.co.uk and .com as a phishing site all you need to do is click on the icon that appears down the bottom of the explorer window and you can report them as a phishing site. If everyone does this in the end the site wont load and hopefully they will go out of business. Or at least spead a lot of monet setting up again!!!!
February 20th, 2008 at 9:47 am
I am sending the details to my bank but I dont know if to bother emailing them something about what has happened to me (and in chronological order, member, non member repeated about three times now) since their reputation is already down they are not likely to be willing to reply… what do you think?

Same story but mine is being charged through CLUBPREM.COM. Bank is sending me the forms and a foreign girl at Vistaprint says I will be refunded, but I won’t hold my breath. What I will do is check my next statement immediately.

I, too, have been a victim of this scam. I purchased some new address labels for my mother as she moved. When my husband checks my bank statement each month, he did ask me about VP which I checked and saw it was Vista Print. I said that’s OK thinking it was for the payment of the labels. It wasn’t until today (6 months later) that I decided to check back on my statements. I saw that £9.95 was being taken out of my account and 2 in January 2008.
I immediately contacted Lloyds who put me through to their fraud dept. They have said they would reimburse me for the 7 months and issue a new card. They are looking into the matter via the Fraud Dept.
Please cancel your debit card with your bank first thing. This stops VPRewards taking any further monies from your account.

Guess what i have been caught out too and i am not too happy, wouldn’t mind but to rub salt in the wound the money they took put me over draw on my card and the bank well it just went in one ear and out the other, rung vista print and got throught to someone the other side of the world who just kept me on hold on there highly price £5 a minute line, not sure what to do now apart from cancel my card and get issued with a new one.
March 12th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
well, further to my comment (no 93) i did get a refund from club prem, though it took a 2nd phone call, but nabila who i spoke to was actually very pleasant & helpful (i guess it’s not the staff’s fault that their company is scamming people).
my bank, however, were hopeless (halifax / BOS) and instead of sending me the fraud report, they wrote and said it was not fraud & basically it was my problem - they didn’t want to know!

i recently purchased free business cards from vistaprint and recall not subscribing because i am umemployed and cannot afford the fee of £9.95. On checking my bank statement on-line today i find this amount as been deducted and paid to clubprem. i them discovered this site and what a surprise i too have become apart of something i didn’t sign up for. i have emailed vistaprint and i shall be in touch with Abbey my bank straight away to cancel my card. thank you to all those who have posted info i am not at a loss now as to who to contact and i too shall be making some phonecalls.

I found that one way to get these scamming bastards to move themselves is to report the situation to the local police (in the UK at least), get a crime book number and then post all the details (police station name, address, phone number, crime number etc) to VP Rewards main postal address.
Suddenly you’ll get your money back - no real apology though

Also ordered some business cards from vista print, after 1 month they billed me for £9.95 under the vprewardsocom i cancelled the debit, I sent them an email complaning but had no replied. I check my bank account last night & they have taken the same amount of £9.95 under a difference name pti europe region..This needs to stop now, the banks cant seem to stop it if the name keeps on changing.
March 26th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
I got caught too! Felt a bit thick as they took out four months before i noticed. I e-mailed to cancel and got the confirmation e-mail back. Didn’t think anymore about it until i noticed the debit from my account a few days ago. They now owe me 9 months!!
Just phoned Vistaprint on freephone number and spoke to Leoni who has assured me that a full refuind will be paid in the next 5 working days. I shall wait and see. I’ve decided to look on the bright side and see it as a savings account!
March 28th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
I have just been billed for 2 months for £9.95 from vprewards andpti europe region gbp both with the same number.
No good phoning it as you get the run around.
Still trying to get my visa card to stop payments.
I will never deal with VT Print again.Would still like advice on how to get money back.

March 31st, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Yes, I purchased xmas cards in November and since december I have been charged 9.95 twice, vprewards and clubpremium. Why is this company still allowed to do this, I was not aware of the subcription.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:47 am
I have recently discovered that VP rewards have been taking a subscription of 9.95 out of my account for a membership. I have not at any time agreed to this and have contacted my card company and emailed Vista print. I have demanded a full refund and am waiting for a reply. Watch this space!

i am currently trying to chase up monies being taken from my barclaycard account, £9.95 per month to clubprem. i thought it was someone who had tapped into my account when i ordered concert tickets, i now realise the scam is from last year when i purchased bussiness cards through vistaprint. i cant believe they can get away with this , like others have said, i didnt agree to this so called membership. my bank will investigate but cannot cancel the tranaction even though i didnt agree to it, madness! i will take the advice from this site and try to contact vistaprint direct. i’m so pleased that i found your site. it’ fraud on a big scale and those responsible should be brought to justice! i’ll keep you posted on any developments. good luck to everyone else who is being ripped off. its shameful
April 11th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
This appears to be mainly confined to the UK. Credit card laws seem to be pretty loose there. I have not heard of this happening in Australia yet. Don’t you guys over there have some sort of consumer protection body? The culprits do have a UK address, so there is no reason why a government watchdog wouldn’t get involved, with enough complaints.
April 14th, 2008 at 12:07 am
I just discovered that I have been being charged $14.95 a month for the past year after ordering a small set of business cards. What a scam. How can we get a class action law suit started?
April 14th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
Just to add… they ripped me off in the same way too. I had to cancel my credit card to get the payments stopped and it took ages to get someone on the phone and a (partial) refund. Total charlatans.
April 15th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
This seems to be a worryingly large scam. I regularly get VistaPrint offers with my Amazon purchases. How can they promote a company which does this to people? I’ll be reconsidering using Amazon in the future now too because they must know what VistaPrint are doing. Glad I haven’t ordered anything from VP!
April 16th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
I’ve been done too. didn’t notice the £9.95 coming out of my account each month, and now it has got to over £100. How many people have actually got their money back? and what is the best way to stop the payments from now on?
April 20th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
I was caught out by this scam a while back but they refunded my money (I managed to sign up several times apparently, all @ £9.95?!) so I kept on buying from Vistaprint. Silly me. Tonight I’ve responded to one of their ‘free items’ emails, spent the princely sum of £2.98 + P&P + tax as shown on screen. I then clicked on ‘click here to print copy of your order’ to find they’ve decided to charge me £74.40. This it seems is a mix of both offer prices and non offer prices. Is Nat West credit card interested? Nope. Is the Vistaprint office open - nope again, and it’s in America. I’ve emailed them and will start calling from 8am EST so will be interesting to see if I get a refund or the order cancelled. Nothing told me that the advertised prices were no longer valid. Nothing indicated that the price onn the screen was about to change. I certainly didn’t click on anything untoward on the Vistaprint site. Just seems they can charge just what they like and their website makes it clear you can’t cancel orders. Anyone else come across this before, and if so, how did you fare in getting your money back?

once you have been scamed from visra print, try your bank for the cash back as they will scam you to. Lioyds TSB have told me that even as my bank acc is now closed they (will) pay out to this scam and then take me to court for the cash. when i asked Lioyds how they could do this if the bank acc was closed, they said (you have signed up to them)for the full truth you can phone me 07525806062 i am with 02 this is not a scam, i wont you all to know what bastard they are…….
ps Lioyds TSB see you in court Dr Damien Isaak

I noticed payment coming from my bank last year one to VPrewards and one to ClubPrem. I went to Barclays and demanded they stoped the money coming form my account since I did not signe up to anything. I persisted and the bank finally got all my money back and no more money taken out.
April 23rd, 2008 at 1:27 pm
I have spoken to my bank provider (LloydsTSB) on 0845 300 6699, and they advised me nothing could be done until I have spoken to ‘VPRewards’ first, and requested a stop to the account and a refund. I was give phone number 0845 026 1100 for VPRewards, but this number requires and account number (which I obviously don’t have, a credit card number (fat chance are they having that again!) or a phone number (which I am not leaving either!) So I have emailed them at enquiries@vprewards.com…. Awaiting reply….

I have just Emailed Vista Print threatening legal action.I also phoned VPRewards on 0845 0261100 which appears to be an outomated service.I tried to cancel the “membership” I never signed up for in the first place. To do this I had to very reluctantly enter my credit card number. If you do this you are then given the option to cancel your membership. This I did and was then given a cancellation reference number.I then phoned again and went through the same procedure.I was given the automated reply that my membership had been cancelled.I don’t know if this will work i.e. stop the payments to VPRewards.I now have to try and get the money they have stolen from me returned.

I’ve been duped as well! I stopped using a credit card NATWEST visa. Only to discover a payment i’d overlooked. £9.95 to VPrewards. Rang the bank to see who it was - was told I could not cancel it as I had agreed to the payment. Rang the VP number to cancel, sent an email to VP and tried to call them but they just hung up. The bank seems to be coluding with the crooks - So just about to write a complaint to the bank.

I was caught by this the first time I used Vistaprint, as I thought the page was part of the ordering process, but managed to cancel remarkably easily before a payment was taken. I use the company for all my printing as it is very good value, speed and quality and ideal for me in a remote part of the country. But I am VERY careful to bypass all the offers that come up after placing the order - treat these pages as if they are red hot and don’t click on ANYTHING AT ALL even if it promises discount vouchers etc. I don’t even use the discount vouchers they send with the order.
Reading the above comments I can’t believe there are so many people who don’t go through their statements every month!
May 9th, 2008 at 1:20 am
I too have been targeted by Vista Print.
I am a pensioner and September 2007 received an e-mail offering me business cards free of charge! Like an idiot I ordered a little box of personal cards in mine and my husband’s name, plus took the additional offer of some name and address stickers for approx. £1.50. All I had to pay on top of this was the P&P, so I paid a total of £7.16 for what I felt was a good deal!
I have been quite ill for this last year and hadn’t noticed that two amounts of £9.95 have been going out of my bank account regularly each month since October 2007, one for VPREWARDS.COM and the other for CLUBPREM.CO, totalling £159.20! I know it sounds ridiculous that this went unnoticed, but it shows on the bank statement with the last four numbers of my debit card, so it appeared like a regular shopping expense. I wonder just how many other people are unaware that this is happening.
The guy from Vista Print told me on the phone this evening “people just don’t read everything when they order, it clearly states that you are signing up for their club offers within 30 days of placing the order”. !!
Well I certainly didn’t notice any such statement, I certainly wouldn’t have given them my tiny order. But the guy didn’t offer any explanation as to why they conned me for two of these scams.
My bank instantly knew who I was talking about before I had any idea who was taking my money, not only that, they knew the freephone number of Vista Print straight off the top of their heads as they say they are getting calls like mine all the time. The disgraceful thing is that the bank cannot stop them taking your money due to the method of payment in the first place. So the only way it can be stopped is by you contacting these con artists yourself to cancel. These criminals really know how to play the game, the mind boggles at how much interest they are receiving from all the money they con from people like myself.
Having had to call them a second time this evening to chase up my refund (as the promise of the refund last week didn’t happen), I am hoping and preying that they will keep their word and refund now. I am very worried after reading that many haven’t got their money back.
May 9th, 2008 at 8:49 am
You CAN stop it from your bank - ask for a form for card fraud and cancel and reissue all of your cards.
Good luck - be persistent and threaten legal action. It is the only way that they pay attention!

The stress of all this meant no sleep at all last night and I ended up on my PC until 7.30 this morning researching more and more. I posted my story on every site possible and e-mailed it to anyone and everyone I discovered. Having watched a couple hours TV, got back onto the PC, where I still am at midday. It’s really scarey that they can do this to people, I feel physically sick.
Anyway, after yet more calls this morning I eventually ended up calling Customer Services at Adaptive Affinity on 0845 672 2002 and spoke to what seemed to be a nice guy called Mark Bright. He was incredibly polite, and based in Edgware (unlike rude Omar in the States, who you get on the freephone number of 0800 028 8251). Turns out that I was lied to yet again last night, Mark confirmed that the two suspect accounts had been cancelled, but there was no mention of any refund whatsoever! He promised me that he put the request through to the States whilst we were speaking and has also promised to call me back before the close of play today to confirm everything going through.
Watch this space………………..

Thank god for American Express. After several months of being charged $14.95 from VPRewards, I called AX and claimed fraud. They are reversing the charges and filed a fraud claim which they are investigating. I had to cancel my credit card also and spent hours of my time. All for a stupid f%$#&$ t-shirt. i hate vista prints.com
May 13th, 2008 at 10:26 am
I am pleased to report that I have had an email reply from Tabitha at VPrewards, and a full refund of all the money they took. Although it was bad for them to take the money in the first place, they have given it all back with no problems! I will not be going back to vista print though, and I have warned my family and friends to keep away, and spread the word!
May 13th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Great new, I got the entire £159.20 refunded into my bank.
Persistence with these people really pays off.
May 13th, 2008 at 7:25 pm
I Ordered some cards about a month ago and so far only the correct amount of money has been debited from my account.
I’m a bit worried now, if I cancel the card and order a new one off of the same account would I still be safe??

Mike! My business cards were lovely. The BOGUS charges on my credit card did not appear immediately. But a few months later…. SURPRISE! $14.95 per month, marked VISTAPRINT. When I called I was told “I signed up online.” When I asked to speak to their manager/supervisor, I was told, “There is no supervisor.” I took my complaint to the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU in Boston, Mass, where the SINGLE US location of this company is based. Apparently they are RIPPING PEOPLE OFF all over the world! And with a listing on the Stock Exchange no less! Go to the local authorities. They will back y ou up, VISTAPRINT will send you an “
