goodbye to the company…

Sooner or later we all discover that the important moments in life are not the advertised ones, not the birthdays, not the jobs, the graduations, the weddings, not the great goals achieved. The real milestones are less prepossessing. They come to the door of memory unannounced, stray dogs that amble in, sniff around a bit and simply never leave. Our lives are measured by these.

Today then I am resigning from the hurly burly of the company but I will take with me many memories of a role that was stimulating, challenging and usually far too relaxed.

I thank you for your kindness and your consideration.

I will leave you with a few of my favourite quotes that will hopefully help you get through your days:

It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. Is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be. You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

I hope that my achievements in life shall be these - that I will have fought for what was right and fair, that I will have risked for that which mattered, and that I will have given help to those who were in need that I will have left the earth a better place for what I’ve done and who I’ve been. ~C. Hoppe

how to remove ads from OH…

General Nonsense 2 Comments »

First, make sure you are using Firefox

Then Install Adblock plus - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

Once AdBlock plus is installed, you will see a red stopsign in the top right of the firefox window:
adblock

There will be a little drop down arrow next to it - click the arrow and choose “Preferences”.

Then Highlight “ADVERTISEMENT FILTERS” and then click the button “Add Filter”

This is what you need to add in the box to not show ANY of the OH ads - including the star
http://images.obesityhelp.com/uploads/banners/*

If you just want to hide the Bariatric Eating ads put this in the box
*barie*

Then click Okay and then Okay again, and you will never see them!

IIf you are using Internet Explorer or other browsers, you can get the same effect by downloading Banner Ad Blocker at http://www.powerie.com/ad_blocker.html - make sure to put the same links to block as the ones above.

Hope this works for you!

bitchy advice…

After my divorce, I have contemplated many things about my ex-husband, and am trying to understand his behaviour.

I am one of those women who get up early in the morning to make sure her hair and makeup is nice, I make sure I look presentable, my clothes well ironed, brush my teeth on a thrice daily basis, and ensure I shower at least once a day.

Also, my career is very important to me.

My ex-husband is now living with someone the complete opposite of me.

Here are some examples:

  1. she came to our court appearances in a track suit (a track suit is like a jogging/exercise suit - and believe me, this girl hasn’t seen any exercise recently) and white trainers (the rest of us were in business suits)
  2. always looks as if she needs a wash
  3. doesnt wear makeup
  4. very bad skin
  5. never styles her hair, always in a ponytail
  6. doesn’t work - she has a couple of eBay shops selling crafts, but hasn’t been paying tax so they are investigating
  7. wears gold chains
  8. used to live in a council house
  9. wears soveriegn rings
  10. pregnant (again) out of wedlock
  11. single parent with 2 children by 2 different fathers (never married)
  12. This list can go on and on and on…

While my beloved-husband-to-be Rob is different that my ex-husband (much younger, better looking, and doesn’t resort to power trips, manipulation, and violence), I am struggling to understand why the ex has decided to get with this girl/chav (chav is kinda like the US version of white trash).

She isn’t pretty, she kinda smells, and its clear she doesn’t contribute to the household.

Maybe some of you can help me understand?

And while I am at it (bitchy advice that is) I want to say the following:

If you don’t cook healthy meals, get takeaways most nights, spend 70% of your weekends drunk, and then go onto one of those pay-per-week diet plans, don’t get upset when you loose some water weight initially and then pile it all back on.

Being healthy is a lifestyle change, not just something you choose on occasion.

Cut out at least 50% of the alcohol, tinned cans of pasta in sauce, super noodles, microwave meals, crisps, and other shit you put in that filthy gob of yours, and the weight will soon come off!

Perhaps not talking shit about people or gossiping about them whenever you get an opportunity will help you make more real-life friends, too.

Concerta Vs Ritalin…

ADHD Related, Gastric Bypass, General Nonsense 7 Comments »

Prior to surgery, I was on Concerta - time released Ritalin. I have ADHD and although I am highly functioning and use it to my advantage (was great in med school), I need to focus more now and it has helped.

Because of the issues with absorption, I have switched to Ritalin and taken my first tablet this morning - its been awhile and I kind of missed the ability to focus to be honest. Its nice to feel some normality again.

Is anyone else on Ritalin (generic name methylphenidate) or someting else for ADD/ADHD?

If so, what has your experience been?

Had a few rough days, made the mistake of trying peanut butter which caused me to have a gastrointestinal dump, but I am recovered. I won’t be repeating that incident any time soon.

I am down 37 pounds now, and its really starting to show. Clothes are fitting better and I have much more energy. Oddly though, I have to stop and rest often cause my drain site hurts.

hello

I see my surgeon on Tuesday and hopefully all of my blood results are fine.

I go back to work in just over a week, and to be honest, I am looking forward to it. I hate not having structure to my days.
